The TAG Project

Identification tags were used to track
Japanese Americans throughout their
internment experience. These identification
tags still haunt survivors.

Wendy Maruyama, a Japanese American artist,
recreated each of the 120,000 tags. She then compiled
them into ten vertical sculptures to symbolize each
of the ten internment camps. The TAG Project
is currently on display at the Bellevue
Art Museum in Seattle, Washington.
But it will be returning to the Bay Area this Fall.
The Tag Project will be featured at the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design beginning October 4th 2014 and running through January 4th 2015.

SPASJ is inspired by the work of Wendy Maruyama.
The TAG Project is a powerful exhibit that combines
art with social justice.
